I don’t want my child to be tutored in my home, too many distractions! Can you tutor somewhere else?
Yes! We can meet at the Indio Library!
What do you tutor?
Beginning ukulele (very basic introduction). Your child will learn the names of the strings, learn some basic chords C, F, G, and some nursery rhyme songs.
Academic tutoring such as reading, writing, math.
I really enjoy teaching writing (story maps, informative and opinion writing). If your child needs phonics I can do that too! Most kids in need of tutoring require a little bit of everything such as phonics, spelling, word reading, reading a book and writing about it.
Do you offer any scholarships?
This summer, 2023, I am offering 8 hours of FREE ukulele lessons.
Do you tutor students with special needs?
If a student is on an IEP, I would need to see if I can be a good match for that student. It all depends on their ability to sit for a good 30 – 60 min period of time, and their level of focus. I am NOT a special education teacher but I have had various students of special needs in my class. More on the mild side.
What city do you tutor in?
I am serving the city of Indio, preferences given to clients residing in North Indio.
Do you have a Business License?
Yes, I have a license with the City of Indio, “Tiny Melons Tutoring”.
Why is it called Tiny Melons?
My classroom theme has been watermelons for the past six years. I love the watermelon theme. It’s so cute. So, a coworker (Mrs. Dauto) suggested “Tiny Melons” and I loved it! It’s so bright and cheery.
What made you decide on a tutoring business?
I have always wanted to open a tutoring business when I retire from teaching. So, I decided to start now. Little by little the word will get out and by the time I retire, it will be successful.
I feel like I have seen you before.
You probably have. I have taught at Van Buren, Dr. Carreon, Carter and Oliphant Elementary. Or you might have seen a clip of me on the news when I was awarded a $500 grant. https://kesq.com/news/2021/01/20/talented-kindergarten-teacher-selected-as-january-one-class-at-a-time-winner/
